Courtroom Decorum

Our pet peeve: having to stand when the judge enters the court room, in our opinion, there is no good reason for this tradition to continue in a modern society. It will not change the outcome of any legal dispute; except maybe for a few cases where the judge would impose contempt of court, if the people would not pay homage to them in this way. Our research has revealed that most judges already do not require this procedure in their court room. We applaud these judges for not wasting our time. The Judge should be sitting at their bench before the court is to start and The Bailiff should say ‘Please be seated and come to order, court is now in session’ is enough everyone already knows the judge is in control. If you think about it, the government is not allowed to humiliate a criminal in any way, yet in some court room’s good people continue to be insulted by a few judges that require this self-gratification. For the people that are forced to stand, it’s degrading and humiliating. Our recommendation: The requirement to rise to a standing position from a sitting position, when the judge enters the courtroom should be abolished in all courts immediately. Let it go the way of those powdered wigs they used to wear. This would not be an issue in a digital court.
